Gallery Exhibition of Original Art Created by Teen Individuals with Down syndrome
Original works have been reproduced on fine art paper and underwritten by Jon Scott of JS Graphics, www.jsg676.com, a digital art studio for photographers and artists. Reproduced works have been numbered and signed and will be for sale at Gallery Victor, proceeds benefiting programming at GiGi’s Playhouse Chicago. The exhibition has been underwritten by Victor Armendariz of Gallery Victor. Supplies for the Art Explosion! course have been underwritten by private donation. Original art will be on display.
ART EXPLOSION! Course
Students reproduced their interpretations of Wassily Kandinsky’s Circles; Jackson Pollack’s drip paintings; Edvard Munch’s The Scream; Henri Matisse’s Cut-Outs; and Van Gogh’s Starry Night [over the Chicago skyline]. The course was written and taught by Bruce Dempsey, MEd, former Vice President of Academic Affairs, Carnegie-Mellon University Fine Arts graduate; Evguenia Popova, MS OTR/L and Sara Brum, OTS, all volunteers for GiGi’s Playhouse Chicago.
GiGi’s Playhouse Down syndrome Achievement Center’s mission is to change the way the world views Down syndrome through national campaigns, educational programs, and by empowering individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the community. We offer free therapeutic and educational programming to individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
