Jackie Taylor’s The Other Cinderella

Black Ensemble Theater presents the return of Jackie Taylor’s hit production of the Other Cinderella now in it’s 43rd year, written and directed by Founder and CEO Jackie Taylor. Black Ensemble Theater concludes its 2019 Season (Legends and Lessons) with the holiday favorite The Other Cinderella. The Other Cinderella will be performed now until January 19, 2020 at the Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center, 4450 N. Clark Street in Chicago. The Other Cinderella is a Black Ensemble classic that has been enjoyed by people of all colors, kinds and ages. In this African American rendition of this African fairy tale, Cinderella is from the projects, The Stepmamma works at the Post Office, there is a King, Queen and Prince, there are the Brothers are From The Hood, and The Fairygodmama is from Jamaica.
The Other Cinderella, now in its 43rd year is the most professional and well executed production in both song and dance, with the professional musicians guiding the cast is Robert Reddrick, musical director/drums; Adam Sherrod, Keyboards; Mark Miller, Bass; Gary Baker, Guitar. The cast includes Jayla Williams-Craig (Cinderella), Blake Hawthorne (Prince), Chantee Joy (Queen), Dwight Neal (King), Rhonda Preston (Stepmother), Jasmine Bomer (Geneva), Justis Drakes (Margarite), Robin DaSilva (Fairy Godmother), Stewart Romeo (Page), Michael Adkins (Peanut Butter), Blake Reasoner (Pee Wee), Lemond Hayes (Attendant), Micah Materre (Lady in Waiting), Colleen Perry (Dorothy) and Vincent Jordan (Groundhog). The creative team includes Denise Karczewski (lighting design), David Samba (sound),Melah Heidenreich (prop design), Evan Joseph Frank (set design) Robert Reddrick (music

Tickets for regular season performances are priced at $55 for Thursdays (begin in December) and Saturday matinees; and $65 on Fridays, Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees.
