Mother and Son Kick off Oak Lawn Theater Program
Guest Speaker Series

How are theater students staying connected during the pandemic? Any way they can! This year, the Oak Lawn Theater Program has started a series of bi-weekly meetings to help students interested in the performing arts interact and learn more about their craft. This includes a series of guest speakers sharing their knowledge with the group with students attending both virtually and in-person.
Our kick-off speaker was Mrs. Eileen Walsh. Mrs. Walsh, a nationally recognized lawyer, award winning speaker, and OLTP parent, spoke to students about the storytelling traditions of rural Ireland. She also shared lessons from her course on writing your own ethical will, where students explored the important aspects of their lives that they would want to share with future generations. To complete her presentation, Mrs. Walsh’s son, James Walsh, spoke to students about how to further develop their writing and storytelling skills through the writing events included in our competitive Speech program.
James, who took 3rd place in both Humorous Duet Acting and Informative Speaking events at this year’s Speech Sectional competition and the school’s state entry in these events, shared his passion for exploring his own interests through his writing and performances. The Oak Lawn Theater Program will continue its Guest Speaker Series on April 9th with presentations from a theatrical lighting designer and a member of the production staff at the Met.
Oak Lawn Theater is also pleased to present a return to live theater with upcoming performances of Solutions and Other Problems and The Insanity of Mary Girard on March 25th and March 26th. Tickets can be purchased at
